There is not much information on the species population as it used to be reported as Aloe bulbillifera. There are three available records for A. antonii, the most recent made in 2006 by Castillon.

Although the species is reported from a protected area, the place is not completely exempt from logging activities and fire, however these are possibly not affecting the species habitat.
