Allocasuarina luehmannii

Whilst there is some detailed information regarding Allocasuarina luehmannii woodlands in the southwest of this species range (Cheal et al. 2011), there is little, or no information regarding this species distribution as a whole, including the roadside and specimen trees and the populations in northern NSW and Queensland. Information from the southern part of this range suggests the population number and viability has reduced significantly (Cheal et al. 2011). This species is a dominant or co-dominant tree species in a number of different woodland communities throughout its range. Many of these woodland communities have now been cleared, however, the species still persists as isolated paddock trees, and along roadsides (Cheal et al. 2011). Allocasuarina luehmannii has a large extent of occupancy, although the area of occupancy of this species is <2,000 km² and this has reduced by more than 30% since European settlement (AVH 2021). There is likely to be some future decline, but there is a lot of uncertainty around the extent, therefore, it is not included in this assessment.
