The species was discovered in July 2002, in the 50 ha Korup Forest Dynamic Plot in Korup National Park, when 12 plants were seen. Twenty individuals were found in the same area the following June (Sainge et al. 2005). No other individuals are known of.

The only known site for this species is on a hill slope in the Korup Forest Dynamic Plot within the relatively well protected Korup National Park; the most likely threat is during enumeration phases, when this is heavily staffed and intensively visited, leading to a risk of inadvertent trampling of these small plants.

Korup National Park is a priority protected area in Cameroon and so is well managed by the Ministry of Fauna and Forestry (J.M. Onana pers. comm. 2017). The site for this species should be signposted, marked off, and monitored at yearly intervals. Further research is needed on this species' population size, distribution and trends.
