Description complète des menacesExpert
Across the wide range of this species there are many localized threats that would have impacted the habitat of this species, especially at lower altitudes. However, none of these are though to be severe enough to have a significant impact on the species as a whole.

Habitats préférentiels (classification IUCN)

  • 1_6Forest - Subtropical/Tropical Moist Lowland
  • 1_9Forest - Subtropical/Tropical Moist Montane
Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
The species is recorded to occur in a number of protected areas from across its range. Plants are reported to be in at least five ex situ collections (BGCI 2018).

Further taxonomic research is required on this species, especially genetic research, to see if there are sufficient differences between the disjunct populations to warrant recognition of the plants from the western part of Africa as a separate species. Harris and Wortley (2018) report that the specimens from Cameroon and Bioko have smaller leaves and shorter peduncles than those from further east, but they choose not to recognize these differences without further supporting characters.

If it turns out that there is more than one species, the resultant new taxa would need to be assessed again as the status could be quite different.
