État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
There is no precise information available on population size or trend. This species is known from five herbarium specimens, four of which were collected by Poulsen in the mid to late 1990s. Poulsen's collections are from two sites in different countries so it is likely that it is more common than the herbarium records suggest, having presumably been overlooked by more general collectors in the area between the known sites (Harris and Wortley 2018).

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
All the collections appear to be from protected areas; there is, however, human encroachment into these areas (Budongo Conservation Field Station 2016). At the Budongo Forest Reserve, primarily for bushmeat hunting and logging, and from miners disturbance at the Réserve de faune à okapis. There is also an external threat from the oil industry, not known precisely if this could affect to the species' habitat.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesStratégies de conservation IUCNExpert
All the known sites for this species are in protected areas - Budongo Forest Reserve (Uganda) and the Réserve de faune à okapis (the Democratic Republic of the Congo), although this are not completely intact areas. No plants are reported to be in ex situ cultivation (BGCI 2018).
Conservation needs include continued management of the protected areas and collection of plants and seed for ex situ conservation.
Better distributional data and information on population size and trends and any threats are required to assess the status of this species.
