Description complète des menacesExpert
The species is certainly being impacted by loss of habitat in many of the coastal areas in the western parts of its range, e.g. around Kribi in Cameron where a new shipping port is under construction; and around Libreville in Gabon because of expanding urbanization, expanding agriculture, sand mining and logging. The localities situated further into the interior and on the eastern side of the range may be much more secure.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
This species occurs in a number of protected areas across its wide range including Monte Alen National Park (Equatorial Guinea), Reserve de Wonga Wongué (Gabon), Dzanga-Sangha National Park in Central Africa Republic, Noubalé-Ndoki National Park in Congo, and the Réserve de faune à okapis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. No plants are known to be in ex situ cultivation in botanic gardens (BGCI 2018).

Additional protected areas are required to ensure better protection of this species and plants and seed should be collected for ex situ conservation.

Further research is required to confirm the full extent of the range of this species, its population size and trends, and especially to see if there are any threats impacting the localities on the eastern side of the range or if the threats are mostly confined to the western coastal areas.
