There is not much information available on population size or trend; the species is expected to be rare as it has not been found in the last four years in Central Gabon despite several field trips during this period there (T. Stevart pers. comm. 2019).

The main threat to the specie is the construction road that is planned to take place crossing that area of Gabon this year (T. Stevart pers. comm. 2020).
The two known collection points where this species has been found are outside protected areas and selective logging is reported to take place in these sites (Tropicos.org 2020), however, it is no known whether this activity can be a direct threat to the species.
