Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
Despite its very large range, this species is known with certainty from only a few protected areas e.g. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Kibale National Park (Uganda), Amani Nature Reserve on the East Usambaras (Tanzania) and from various forest reserves across its range. The species is in ex situ cultivation in at least two botanic gardens (BGCI 2018).

Seed and plants of this species should be collected for ex situ conservation and the protected area network expanded to cover more of its range.

The outlier subpopulations at Kakamega (Kenya) and the East Usambaras (Tanzania) need to be investigated to see if these are perhaps the result of past translocations for cultivation or if they may even be different species. Efforts should also be made to locate the species in South Sudan and Rwanda.
