Description complète des menacesExpert
There has almost certainly been some decline in the habitat of this species, especially in northern coastal Cameroon where habitat has been lost to expanding agriculture and likewise in Gabon around Libreville where expanding urbanization would have caused much loss of habitat. However, the species occurs in old fields so is tolerant of some disturbance.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
The species occurs in some protected areas across its range including the Oban Group Forest Reserve (Nigeria) and Mount Cameroon National Park (Cameroon). It probably occurs in other reserves in the area but has been either over-looked or misidentified as another species. The species is reported to be grown in ex situ cultivation in one botanic garden (BGCI 2018).

Attempts are required to see if this species still occurs at its locality in Nigeria and if it also occurs in the neighboring Cross River National Park. Plants and seed should be collected for ex situ conservation. Further field surveys are required to determine the full range of this species and to gather more information on the status of the population and its trends.
