As only one of the known localities is in a protected area, the species is probably impacted by habitat loss. There is clearance of forest at the lower altitudes for agricultural expansion and general deforestation as trees are logged for use.

One of the collection localities is from within Mikumi National Park. All the other localities appear to be from outside of the protected area network. The species is not known to be grown ex situ in any botanic gardens (BGCI 2018).
