According to BGCI's Plant Search database this species is grown in three ex situ collections (BGCI 2019). Some collections have been made in more or less protected areas such as Parc National De l'Upemba, Mulanje Mountain Forest Reserve, Michiru Mountain Conservation Area in which individuals may be conserved. Further research and monitoring are, however, needed of this species to better understand its conservation needs.
