Aegilops uniaristata is a stable and a common species in southeast Europe, particularly in Greece.

The genus Aegilops is listed in Annex I of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture as part of the wheat gene pool.
EURISCO reports 16 accessions of Aegilops uniaristata held in European genebanks, 12 of which are reported to be of wild or weedy origin. Of the wild accessions, three originate from within Europe; two from Greece and one from Italy (EURISCO Catalogue 2010). As these accessions do not adequately represent the distributional range of the species, additional material should be collected for ex situ conservation.
In addition more surveys are needed on this species distribution, particularly to assess whether it occurs in protected areas and to adapt the management plan of these protected areas to the requirements of this species.
