This species seems fairly common in the in the highest parts of the mountains of Sierra Nevada (southeastern Spain). There are nine localities which belong to three subpopulations. Accurate data regarding population trends are unknown, but it is suspected that the population is declining because of wild goats grazing activity.

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
Although some activities related to skiing (infrastructure development, alteration of soil) cause modifications in the population, according to Gómez-Campo et al. (1987), the main threat seems to be the pressure of wild goats (Capra hispanica) which, with domestic sheep and goats, graze in places where this species grows. More information is needed about the ongoing situation of this threat in the area in order to better assess the status of the species.
