The species is only known from one collection made in an area with intact tree cover. The area has however not been recorded by Protected Planet (2020) to be protected. If still extant, the population is likely to be small. The population status is unknown.

This species is only known from Bujong Melaka in Sungai Salu Melaka Forest Reserve (ZRC 2020, Forestry Department of Pen. Malaysia 2020) which seems to have an intact tree cover. The area has however not been recorded by Protected Planet (2020) to be protected.

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2019) to be grown ex situ. The type was at 1950 grown in Penang Botanic gardens (Holttum 1950). The species is only known from Sungai Salu Melaka Forest Reserve which may provide a level of protection (ZRC 2020, Forestry Department of Pen. Malaysia 2020).
