The tree cover is relatively intact in the collection sites. Selective logging is, however, permitted in the reserved forests (National Forestry Act 1993). One collection site is outside any protected area.

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2019) to be grown ex situ. Collections have been made in Ulu Setiu and Sungai Nipah Forest Reserves in which individuals may be under a level of protection (National Forestry Act 1993, Protected Planet 2019).
