In Peninsular Malaysia, the subpopulation in Gunung Bujang Melaka, Perak is intact while the subpopulation in Lentang Forest Reserve, Pahang is scattered. There was no recent observation of the forest condition in Sungai Gepai, Perak but the satellite image showed it is still intact. In Sumatra, there is only one subpopulation, where it was reported to be locally abundant in 2016.

There is no apparent threat observed for the subpopulations in Peninsular Malaysia. The subpopulations in Gunung Bujang Melaka and Lentang Forest Reserves are within the Permanent Forest Reserve network which is managed sustainably for environment and socio-economic purposes (National Forestry Act 1984). The subpopulation in Sumatra was sighted in a private land surrounded by palm oil cultivation (2016), that is at risk of land conversion for this purpose; the current status of this subpopulation is unknown.
