It has been collected in protected areas such as Endau-Rompin and Gunung Ledang State Parks in which individuals should be under a level of protection (Y.-Y. Sam pers. comm 2019, Protected Planet 2019). Parts of the population, outside of the protected areas, are threatened by land conversion, and selective logging is allowed in some of the protected areas (GFW 2019, Y.-Y. Sam pers. comm. 2019).

This species has been recorded by BGCI (2019) to be grown in one ex situ site. Most of the localities are in protected areas such as Endau Rompin State Park, Gunung Ledang State Park, Liggiu Dam (water catchment area) and Permanent Reserved Forest networks, e.g. Gunung Angsi, Kluang and Berembum Forest Reserves (Y.-Y. Sam pers. comm. 2019). The Permanent Reserved Forest is managed sustainably for environment and socio-economic purposes according to the National Forestry Act from 1984 (National Forestry Department Malaysia 1984) and its legislation provides a level of protection (Y.-Y. Sam pers. comm. 2019).
