Although species of Scaphochlamys have some tolerance to disturbance (Y.Y. Sam pers. comm.) a decline in habitat quality will have a negative impact. The forest reserves are not fully protected and selective logging is permitted (National Forestry Act 1993).

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2019) to be grown ex situ. It is known from Kluang Forest Reserve and Lenggor Forest Reserve/Virgin Jungle Reserve (Protected Planet 2019, Sam 2014). These are not, however, fully protected (National Forestry Act 1993).
