It is considered common in the forest reserve Berserah, on the slopes of Bukit Pelindung (Sam 2014). Habitat degradation may cause a general decline in population size.

There are signs of land conversion within the extent of occurrence (EOO). By 2018, c. 34% of the tree cover had been lost within the EOO, in comparison to 2000 (GFW 2019). Indonesia and Malaysia are the largest producers of palm oil (Theo 2004), being one of the reasons natural habitat is converted.
