Although providing some degree of protection, Permanent Forest Reserves are not fully protected (National Forestry Act 1993). The subpopulation in Kg. Seladang is likely to have been severely affected by habitat degradation (Y.Y. Sam pers. comm.).

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2019) to be conserved ex situ. Most populations are found in Permanent Reserved Forest, which does provide some, but not full, protection (National Forestry Act 1993). Research and monitoring is needed to better understand its conservation needs.
