There are currently no major threats to this species as available collections were made in national parks. Satellite imagery shows some signs of enchroachment in the outskirts of Gunung Kinabalu (e.g. near Poring Hot Springs) which could affect the species in the future.

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2018) to be grown ex situ. It is found near Poring Hot Springs in Gunung Kinabalu National Park and in Ulu Temburong National Park where the species should stay conserved (Protected Planet 2019, ZRC 2018).
