Considering the small number of collections, the population is likely to be small. Intact habitat at the collection sites should give the population a level of stability.

Forests of Borneo are under continuous threat of being logged and the land converted to e.g. palm oil plantations (WWF 2018). The habitat in Gunung Palung National Park and around Danum Valley Protection Forest Reserve does, however, seem relatively intact (GFW 2019).

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2018) to be grown ex situ. The available collections have been made in Danum Valley and Gunung Palung National Park which should provide a level of protection (Protected Planet 2019).
