Based on the low number of collections, the population is likely to be small. The relatively high altitudes at which the species has been found (1,500-2,050 m asl) may, however, provide some stability to the population.

Forests of Borneo are under continuous threat of being logged and the land converted to e.g. palm oil plantations (WWF 2018). Satellite imagery (GFW 2018) suggests that the habitat, where this species occurs, is relatively intact. Surrounding areas does, however, show signs of land conversion.

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2018) to be grown ex situ. The species has been recorded from Pulong Tau National Park in which individuals should be under a level of protection (Protected Planet 2018).
