The species is known from 11 localities. The species is not very abundant where it occurs, with five to ten individuals in each patch.

The main threat to the species is the habitat conversion to agriculture lands (local terrace cultivates) which is taking place from 1,200 m asl and above. The most converted areas are the ones in the Talang and Marapi mountains. In spite of occurring inside natural reserves, the agricultural activities still affect the species inside these protected areas.
