The type locality is in the Gunung Sojol Nature Reserve, which has the highest protection status in Indonesia, but the habitat needs to be monitored to ensure that there is no change. The species is in ex situ cultivation at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (Poulsen 2012, BGCI 2018).
