No specific conservation measures were found for this species. However, there is a small protected area on Erromango (Erromango Kauri Forest Conservation Area), although it is not certain that this species occurs within this area. On Erromango, previous Malaysian logging concessions were apparently abandoned in the 1980s when the Vanuatan government banned the practice. The island is said to be largely unpopulated and undeveloped and is described as 'the most unspoilt', although Sandalwood is extracted manually from June to August each year. (positiveearth.org 2006).
