This species is widely distributed in Peninsular Malaysia and most of the subpopulations are stable. Some of the subpopulations are located in protected areas and Ramsar sites, however subpopulations outside of protected areas are susceptible to land use change. The species' population and habitat reduction is estimated to not be within the threshold of a threatened category under Criterion A.
