There is little information readily available on the status of B. eruciformis populations. It is rare in Poland and has disappeared from some sites in Ukraine. It is not threatened in Hungary where it is common east of the River Tisza (Király 2007). It also seems to still be common in parts of Romania and Ukraine. However, it seems equally possible that some populations are naturalised as this taxon has been reared as a crop for a long time.
