The species was last collected from Image Forest Reserve in 1988, which is apparently in good condition. It is also recorded from Mwanihana and Udzungwas mts. Although only two specimens are available, the species is evaluated as Conservation Dependent because the forests have no known threats. This species is listed in CITES Appendix II but it is not known from ex situ collections (BGCI 2018).
