This species is only known from its type collection from Larut Hills (Bukit Larut Forest Reserve). Nevertheless, the fact that Bukit Larut is one of the well-collected localities in Peninsular Malaysia and that the species is only known from a collection made pre 1899, suggests that the species may have specific habitat, which may be affected by a single event, be it fire, or burst-storm, etc.
