Plants in forests at the lower limits of the attitudinal range of this species may be impacted by forest clearance for expanding agriculture (particularly the locality in Nigeria on the Obudu Plateau), however, as most of the range in Cameroon is well above the zone currently impacted, the threat to the species may be relatively low, but this needs to be monitored. It also appears to be tolerant of some disturbance. The subpopulations on Mt. Cameroon might be impacted by volcanic eruptions.
